Microsoft Reveals First Details On Project Scarlett” Game Console For 2020

With no Sony to compete with for attention at its E3 2019 press conference, Microsoft could have easily walked into its annual Xbox event, thrown a few games out, and called it a day with few people disappointed. Project Scarlett is due for a Holiday release. A new generation SSD is being used as virtual RAM, allegedly offering over 40 times performance increases from the current generation. The company announced Project xCloud” last October saying it was testing a new game streaming service designed to work across PCs, consoles and mobile devices.

Microsoft hasn't discussed what kind of controllers it's working on for Project Scarlett. Microsoft's Xbox leader, Phil Spencer, revealed Xbox Series X on stage at the 2019 Game Awards on Thursday, December 12, 2019. Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) is also coming to optimise latency, starting with the Xbox Wireless Controller, which will make sure that input is synchronised immediately with what's displayed, making controls even more precise and responsive.

Whether you stand it upright or on its side, Microsoft explain that Its industrial design enables us to deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way.” This will comes from a single large fan pushing air out of the top at the top, that's able to run at a lower speed and quieter than those found in current console designs, while still improving airflow through the system.

That's pretty impressive, and if Xbox can deliver on its promises, it's hard to see Scarlett being rivaled by any competing console. VRR makes consoles synchronize the display's refresh rate to the game's frame rate, allowing games to run smooth visuals without tearing.

We hope Project Scarlett will finally catch up with the PlayStation side of things, especially now that game streaming has become quite mainstream. This subscription combines the firm's Xbox Game playstation 5 giveaway Pass for console, right alongside its Xbox Live social network, and Xbox Game Pass for PC.

There were several other games announced to be coming to Xbox during the show, including The Outer Worlds, Minecraft Dungeons, and upcoming horror tie-in Blair Witch. While the Sony PlayStation E3 2018 showcase focussed squarely on the games, it seems that the company is quietly prepping for next-gen.

So far only two games have been confirmed to be released on the Xbox Series X. These two games are Halo Infinite and Hellblade: Senua's Saga It has also been confirmed that the Xbox Series X will be backwards compatible with the past three generations.
